    GST collections in July 28% higher than last year, shows govt data

    Goods and Services Tax collection for the month of July was recorded at 148,995 crore, which is 28 per cent higher as compared to the same month last year. This is the second highest revenue since the introduction of the GST in 2017.

    Of the total, CGST was 25,751 crore, SGST was 32,807 crore, IGST was 79,518 crore (including 41,420 crore collected on import of goods) and cess was 10,920 crore (including 995 crore collected on import of goods), the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

    Arrested by ED, Sanjay Raut to be produced in Mumbai court today

    The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a Mumbai ‘chawl’ after over six hours of questioning at the ED’s zonal office in south Mumbai’s Ballard Estate.

    He was taken into custody at 12:05am on Monday under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as he was not cooperating in the probe, the officials claimed.

    The Rajya Sabha MP of the Sena, led by former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, will be produced before a special PMLA court in Mumbai later in the day, where the Enforcement Directorate will seek his custody.

In a first, an all-women navy aircrew carried out an independent maritime reconnaissance and surveillance mission in the north Arabian Sea on board a Dornier 228 aircraft on Wednesday, the Indian Navy announced on Thursday, saying that the women had “created history.”

The IMD issued a red alert for the day in the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur and orange alert in remaining districts except for Thiruvananthapuram where a yellow alert is in place.
